History of Angus Links Golf Course

Beginning on May 27, 1997, Scott and Gary Smith, along with the current General Manager Rod Maxwell, started to design and move earth to create Angus Links Golf Course. By 06-12-1998 the first nine holes were available for public play. By April of 1999, a full 18 hole course was completed.

In 2002, experimentation was begun with Zoysia grass plugs on fairways #13 and #14.

In 2006, two additions were added to the then "Club House" resulting in an expansion of the current Snack Bar; and, the addition of the Pro Shop and the 19 Hole Lounge. The 19th Hole lounge seats several, has wide screen tv and has a wet bar. In 2008, the snack bar boasted the addition of a full grill so that breakfast, lunch and supper menus are available to our golfers and all who visit.

Also in 2006, a few fairways were experimented with the planting of Zoysia grass plugs. By early 2008 with the development of Zoysia grass seed, a decision was made by administration of the Club to seed all par-4 and par-5 fairway landing areas with Zoysia seed. Several acres west and north of the course were also planted with Zoysia seed revealing rolls of Zoysia grass. With the heavy rains we've had in early 2008, seeding was delayed and rolls of Zoysia had to be inserted in some fairways to help the seeded Zoysia areas.

By late Spring, early Summer of 2009, just in time for our 10 year anniversay of the the full 18-hole course, all areas should be fully or near-fully grown in. See the slideshow on the home page for several pics of the type of lies and consistent roll you will be having when you play at Angus Links Golf Course.

In mid-July 2009, guess what course will be host to a golf challenge? Click here to find out! Angus Links of course.
